Thanksgiving was fun again this year. We headed up on Wednesday night as usual to participate in the biggest bar night of the year. J and I had some dinner at Firehouse where the food never disappoints. I had a delicious potato soup and we ordered a large za. After that we did the normal Falls circuit while taking a minute to get caught up on things with the locals; one minute equals four months of Falls doings.

Thanksgiving Jocelyn did the Turkey Trot in Sheboygan. Weather wise Jocelyn was lucky as lucky can be. It was almost 70 and sunny. She did really well and I got some rays. After that we went to Randy and Becky’s to prepare for the feast. I brined the turkey the night before and threw it in the oven to turn it into some beautiful brown goodness. We gorged on food, watched some football and gorged on more food. The wine was flowing and sleep was setting in, a typical family Thanksgiving.

Friday we headed back to Milwaukee. J dropped me off and headed down by her mom for the weekend. I wanted to lay low and veg solo. Friday I didn’t do a thing.

Saturday I went to the Pub for dinner. While there I ran into a couple of guys that needed another player for a dart game. These guys had their own darts so I thought I was going to get smoked but ended up doing pretty good and looking like a ringer; first time ever in my life. I stayed there until about eleven and then hoofed it home. The Pub is about a mile and a half away which makes it about a half mile too far. It’s still walkable but it is a hike. It’s probably for the best because if it were closer it probably would turn into my Cheers. It’s cheaper to drink at home.

Football: The Good, The Terrible

We talked to Luedke on Friday and found out that he had all his tickets left to the Buffalo v. Badgers for the last home game of the year. We didn’t have anything to do so we picked up L Saturday morning and drove to Madison. We started out at Buck’s and worked our way down Regent. We ended up at the Oakcrest and got stuck having fun. It was pretty funny because we saw Delahunt’s parents through the front window of the Oakcrest on their way to the game. In our revelry next thing we knew it was the second quarter and the Badgers were winning handily. So we ended up hanging out on Regent Street without ever going to the game. From the crowd in the bar we weren’t the only ones. After the game we headed back to MKE and finished the night at the Ale House.

Sunday was a big day too. L, Anna, J and I headed up to Lambeau for my yearly Packers game that Marti hooks me up with. Luedke drove and we met up with Marti by the normal parking spots. The tailgating was fun as usual but that’s about the only thing I can say. The Pack got steamrolled by the Pats 45-0. I ran into Evraets while I was getting a beer and ended up barely seeing the second half. I talked to him and Rich Weiss which was more entertaining than the slaughtering that was going on on the field. After the game we had a beer in the lot while waiting for the traffic to clear out, then L drove us back. Lambeau is always a good time but this was probably on the bottom of my list as far as games goes.

Holiday Hum-bug

This weekend I had a DJ gig.  Luedke hired my services for his company’s holiday party.  I rented my normal rig and drove out to the hotel in Brookfield.  When I set up the speakers they had a nasty hum that I couldn’t figure out where it was coming from.  I went into panic mode and quickly drove to Best Buy to buy a replacement cable but it didn’t do too much.  I did my best to control the hum by using the volume knobs.  The dinner and the cocktails were the only time I had to worry about the hum.  Once the dancing got going I was fine and the night went off without another hitch.  It was pretty cool that I was able to fulfill every request thanks to a wireless internet connection.  J came along but she was really tired and ended up going up to our hotel room right after dinner.  After the party ended I packed everything up and hung out in the bar until midnight and called it a night.  The holidays have officially started for me.
