We had a great Friday. For Christmas Jocelyn bought me tickets to the Dark Star Orchestra. She bought four so I asked Roman from work if he and his girlfriend wanted to go. They did so we met them at Izumis for some sushi before the show. We ate a bunch of sushi and had some sake. After dinner we headed to the Pabst. They had a super Sierra Nevada beer special so the night was spent taking in some DSO and drinking the pale ales. Roman and Nicole are a lot of fun and the night was great. After the show Roman wanted some more to eat to we headed to a diner. I got a patty melt and which ended up being another huge meal. Roman got a huge bowl of French fries. Not that that is anything is unusual but his ketchup style was pretty funny. He treats each fry like a hot dog and runs the ketchup the length of each fry. The Sierra Nevadas probably made the scene that much funnier. After dinner number two we headed home.
Saturday night we went up to Falls for Becky’s birthday party. The party was in the back room of the Other Place. It was fun but J and I kept it tame. We headed back to WFB around eleven.
Didn’t do much Friday. I made a new jambalaya recipe I saw on FoodTV. It was good and made for a chill fulfilling Friday night.
Saturday was another lay low night. Jocelyn made some bruschetta chicken casserole which was very good.
Sunday was an early morning. Jocelyn had a swim meet out in the Delafield area at the Pabst Farms. The morning and early noon was spent watching J kick butt, which she did. After the meet a bunch of the swimmers met at the Delafield Brewhaus for lunch. We ate and watched some playoff football. After lunch we congregated downstairs and hung out with some of the team members and had some drinks while the game finished up. After the game we headed home to catch up on the morning’s lost sleep.
Friday I didn’t do anything but feel crappy. I’ve been slowly getting a nasty cold. I spent Friday night pounding chicken soup, green tea and vitamin drinks.
I didn’t feel much better on Saturday but I had to fire up because Rich and Billie were coming down for the home show at the
My whole week off was pretty low key. I ran a lot of errands and built a projector screen for our new projector TV. I ate at Sabor which is an amazing Brazilian gaucho steak house. It is all you can eat top cuts of steak, pork, chicken and lamb. You first hit the salad bar and then when you’re ready you flip over a little coaster. Once you do that guys come to your table nonstop and cut off hunks of meat from a skewer (saber) on to your plate. You keep eating until you flip your coaster over. The meat was amazing as were the sides. It is not cheap but worth the treat every once in a while. The only other thing I really did on my break worth mentioning was going to eat by J and check out her gourmet cafeteria. The trip was three years in the making and the chicken parmesan was very good. If I had the cafeteria like she does I would only need to eat once a day weight in the neighborhood of three hundred pounds.
Didn’t do much the weekend days either but wait for New Year to roll around. Watched some football and bought some insulation to take advantage of the tax deduction.
For New Year’s Eve we had the Wians’, Bone and Jessica over for a little pre-party/pre-game. The Pack was taking on the Bears to close out the season. We had some drinks, chips, shrimp and pizza. The game didn’t mean anything for the Pack but they finished the season on a high note beating the Bears. The game was the inaugural sporting event on my new 110” projector TV. It ended up being overkill for the room so I’ll have to make some adjustments. After the game we headed to Lakefront for their New Year’s Eve bash. We hung out there from 10-2 drinking beer and listening to the Reggae stylings of King Solomon. If was fun and a great way to bring in the New Year. We didn’t stay out until five this year; we headed straight home and called it a night.
Sunday was a dreadful and delightful day. It was delightful because the Badgers managed to beat Arkansas to finish 12-1 and the Capitol One bowl champs, killer season and what a great year. The day was dreadful too though because it was my last day of vacation, BIG bummer. Back to work tomorrow to start 2007. Happy New Year all, may it be prosperous!
