Lots of Sitting Time Needed

Goodbye Old Blue, the end of an era. Today we got a new couch. It has none of my imprints. It feels like I’m cheating on my girlfriend (if I knew what that felt like). Fancy pantsy micro-suede. I hope it is stain proof because I’m going to cry myself to sleep on it tonight missing Old Blue.

Tomato season is full throttle right now. I’m going to can my own tomatoes for the first time this year. I processed at least 10 lbs tonight and froze them. Round one of four I’m thinking. Winter will be good this year with some tastes of summer.

Della has been a brat for the last three days. She’s sleeping now but it’s been loud around here lately.

My 200th post. Nothing as exciting as the old ones but a milestone none-the-less.

Turning Ron Dayne

Today I turned 33.  As far a milestone in age I definitely wouldn’t call it that.  Aside from a couple gray hairs on the head and more joint pops 33 isn’t all that much different from any of the previous 1o birthdays.  I’m not going be to going out and taking 33 shots tonight but the crew can still hang with the best of them.  I did take a 3.3 mile jog.  I guess this is the one major area of decline since my knees still get sore with extended pavement pounding.  I did it in 26:34 which is a 8:02 pace.  Not the greatest but I can at least do it without dying.  Overall, not bad here at 33. Most important, I got Della as my b-day present.  I couldn’t be happier about that.  A healthy, happy girl and I hope she stays that way until she’s 33 and beyond.

I’m Gonna Try

I’ve said I’m back to blogging before but that really didn’t happen.  Life has been busy and blogging wasn’t really on my list of priorities the last three years.  Well I see a mini light at the end of the tunnel.  I’ll have less projects that involve required weekends and nights after work and more time to enjoy some of my many hobbies.  I can get back to cooking more, tinkering without care for the final result and most, MOST important, time with my new baby girl.  I’ll try to get at least one post in a week to remind me and my baby of the life that I’m living and share the happiness that she will undoubtedly bring me.  I’ll start by trying to get a new theme for the blog some time soon.  So, hopefully, iRau.com is back!  I missed you.

Rockin’ the Flags

Thursday was a Rock Bottom tapping. The tapping was great as usual; when is free beer not great. Hecker, Arianne and I had some fun on the deck. We ran into a nice farmer guy from MN visiting his daughter. We got our free hour of beer and then boogied to My Office for a bit. We had a few there then hit Mykano’s for some grub.

Friday I took it easy. J is still gone so I’m hangin’ solo this weekend. I just say around, had some brews and watched the tube.

Saturday I did some work in the morning and then went with Arianne to Six Flags. I wasn’t overly excited to go when the day started but it ended up being a ton of fun. I hadn’t been there for about ten years so it was a new experience for me. Arianne got the tickets from Craig and Deloitte. Deloitte actually rented the park for the event and it was awesome. We got free food vouchers and the lines were non-existent. We went on all the best coasters without having to wait. We were there about three hours. I cruised home and Ari went to Chicago. I chilled at home the rest of the night. Mowed some grub and watched COPS.

Sad Day, Dream Shattered

Well today one of my hopes was officially shattered.  Rick Wright of Pink Floyd passed away. For those of you that don’t know Pink Floyd is my number one band and I had always hoped they would bury the hatchet and get together again so I could see them live.  This officially puts an end to that hope, a sad day indeed.
